The death anniversary of Sridev Suman, the hero of Tehri Jan Kranti, was celebrated as ‘Suman Day’ in the district on Tuesday. In various offices, schools etc., tribute was paid by remembering the immortal martyr Shridev Suman ji by garlanding his portrait and offering flowers. Tree plantation programs and public awareness rallies were taken out by school children at various places.

MLA Tehri Kishore Upadhyay, District Magistrate Mayur Dixit, Chief Development Officer Manish Kumar, Jailor Rameshwar Singh Rana and other dignitaries, press representatives, officers/employees and school students paid tribute to the statue of Amar Shaheed Sridev Suman ji by offering wreaths and tributes at the District Jail located at District Headquarters, New Tehri. Along with this, plantation was done in the district jail premises.

On this occasion, the Regional MLA while saluting martyr Sridev Suman said that the sacrifice of Sridev Suman ji is no less than that of martyr Mangal Pandey and Chandrashekhar Azad. It is said that that great soul sacrificed his life by fasting unto death for 84 days to protect our present and future. Said that today is the day to take a resolution to follow the path shown by Sridev Suman ji.

Remembering Sridev Suman, the District Magistrate said that his death anniversary is being celebrated with the children so that the young generation can also know the sacrifice of the pious soul who fought for the rights of the people. Public awareness rally is being organized by school children. Along with this, tree plantation is also being done, which has started from the Harela festival and under which a target of planting 13 lakh saplings has been set in the district. Said that whatever announcements have been made in the context of Sridev Suman, work will be done fast by holding a meeting soon regarding their implementation. It is said that the true tribute to Sridev Suman ji would be to perform his duties/responsibilities to fulfill the basic needs related to the district.

On this occasion P.I.C. A public awareness program was organized under the chairmanship of the Regional MLA at Bauradi Stadium. Saplings of different species were planted by the dignitaries and officers. In the district headquarters, an awareness rally was taken out by various school students from Government Pratap Inter College Bauradi via Pratap Residential Colony-Open Market-Covered Market-Ganesh Chowk-Sai Chowk-District Hospital and back to PIC Bauradi.

On this occasion DDO Sunil Kumar, DEO V.K. Dhoundiyal, SDM Apoorva Singh, Ashish Ghildiyal, former District President BJP Vinod Raturi, ADIO Information Bhajani Bhandari including public representatives, media representatives, police personnel, teachers, school children were present.

🙏🙏🌹🌹 Sat Sat Naman – Martyr Sridev Suman was born on 25 May 1916 in Jaul village of Block Chamba.

In 1930, at the age of 14, he jumped into Gandhiji’s Salt Satyagraha movement, for which he had to go to jail. After that, he agitated against the feudal policies of the princely state of Tehri, Sridev Suman is the name of such a great immortal sacrifice, freedom fighter son of the land of Uttarakhand, who was not only a writer, journalist and public leader but also the hero of Tehri’s historical revolution. Rajesh Khanna’s dialogue in the famous Hindi film Anand, “Zindagi laagi nahi badi honi chahiye” Babu Mushay, if it fits the life of a person, then it is Amar Shaheed Sridev Suman, who was martyred for his country at the young age of only 29 years. Let me bow down to Jagdish with independence-interestedness, Let me keep my surrendered head in the feet of mother like Suman. Suman (original name Shridatt Badoni), who sacrificed his life and ended forever the monarchy of Tehri King, who called himself ‘Bolenda Badri’ i.e. Badrinath i.e. God, was born on May 25, 1915 in village Jaul in Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. In the short life of only 3 years, the father’s shadow was lifted from his head. Suman got his early education from the village school itself. In 1930, at the age of just 14, by participating in the ‘Salt Satyagraha’ movement, Sridev Suman had proved to what extent the feeling of patriotism was strong in him. Apart from this, at a young age, he participated in the district political conference held in Srinagar, and on this occasion he made Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru aware of the plight of Garhwal state with his powerful speech.
