The Governor/Chancellor, Kumaon University, took a meeting of Deans and Directors of Kumaon University at DSB campus

Governor/Chancellor University, Lt. Gen. Gurmeet Singh (Retd) on Friday held a meeting of Deans and Directors of Kumaun University at DSB campus. In such a meeting held for the first time, the Governor interacted with each of the Deans and Directors separately and got information about their department’s achievements, contribution to the society, their mission and vision as well as their challenges. The Chancellor inquired about the achievements of the respective departments, the published research papers of the departments, awards, MoUs and publications and future plans.

The Governor said that Kumaon University has been famous in the field of research and teaching. Students studying here have brought laurels to Uttarakhand in the country and abroad. He said that quality of education and research should be the basic principle of universities. It should be our aim to provide quality education to the students studying in universities. The governor directed that the faculty should publish excellent research papers of maximum national and international level. He said that research and technology are useful in true sense only when people get benefit from it. He said that all the deans should find their own source of financial resources and they should not depend on the university. Efforts should also be made to supplement economic resources with the help of central institutions and CSR.

The Governor said that many students from the University have made achievements and are holding high positions. Alumni meet should be organized for the former students and they should be motivated to fulfill the financial resources for the university. The Governor said that every effort will be made to solve the problems and challenges of the university. He spoke of laying emphasis on maximum publications. He also asked each of the Deans and Directors to send their suggestions regarding the betterment of the university. On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Manmohan Chouhan was also present.
