– Revealed in RTI, revenue theft is happening on a large scale

Dehradun. The proverb of darkness under the lamps is coming true in the city. In Dehradun, sand-gravel and gravel shops are running without license and permission. Only a few people in the outskirts of Dehradun have taken permission from the mining department for building material supply. Everything else is running illegally. This has been disclosed by RTI activist Vikesh Negi. Advocate Vikesh Negi said that information has been received from RTI that building material business is being run illegally in Dehradun city and due to this the government is facing huge loss of revenue.

RTI activist Vikesh Negi asked the District Mining Officer for information about building material suppliers operating in 12 areas in Dehradun. Shocking information has been received from the District Mining Office that most of the shops running in Dehradun city do not have any permission letter.

Despite this, he is storing the building material. Some suppliers of Shimla Bypass have taken permission but here too most of the suppliers are doing business illegally without permission. The District Mining Officer complained to the District Magistrate about some traders regarding illegal storage but it is said that till now no action has been taken against even a single illegal trader.
According to Advocate Vikesh Negi, under the Mineral Rules, storage of minerals should be at a distance of 300 meters from religious places, hospitals and educational places. These standards are somewhat different for hilly areas and urban areas. Despite this, minerals are being stored at many places in the city by disregarding the rules. According to Advocate Vikesh Negi, permission from the District Mineral Officer is necessary for storing minerals. This permission is also given for a fixed period. But there is blatant violation of standards in Dehradun. According to him, revenue is also being stolen due to this. Due to this the government is losing crores of rupees.
He has appealed to the Mining Department and the District Magistrate to take action against illegal traders so that tax evasion and GST can be stopped.
