Rishikesh – A case of murder of a young woman working as a receptionist at Vanantra Resort in Ganga Bhogpur, Rishikesh has come to light. Ankita Bhandari of Srikot village of Nandalsun belt of Pauri Garhwal was missing for five days. Taking action this morning, the police arrested three people including Pulkit Arya, son of former state minister Vinod Arya.
When the three arrested accused were strictly interrogated, the accused confessed to their crime. Ankit alias Pulkit Gupta (19) son Rajendra Kumar, resident of Jwalapur Haridwar, Saurabh Bhaskar (35, manager) son Shakti Bhaskar, resident of Jwalapur and Pulkit Arya (35, resort owner) son Vinod Arya, resident of Jwalapur Haridwar police on charges of murder. has also registered a case.
The accused told that on the evening of September 18, when Pulkit and Ankita were in the resort, there was a dispute between them. Pulkit said that Ankita is angry, goes to Rishikesh about it. On which all three of them went to Rishikesh in different trains. We reached AIIMS via barrage. Meanwhile, on the way, all three drank alcohol.
The accused told that after this there was a dispute between Ankita and Pulkit again. Ankita used to defame us among her colleagues and used to tell our things to her colleagues. During the dispute we got angry and Ankita also started scuffle with us. We pushed her in anger and she fell into the canal. After this she cried a couple of times and then drowned in the canal. Police officials say that search is on for the body.
The local people created a ruckus as soon as the news of Ankita’s murder was received. People surrounded the jeep carrying the accused. Some people also broke the glass of the jeep. At the same time, the resort was also vandalized. At the same time, the uncontrollable mob also beat up one of the accused. On the other hand, SDM Kotdwar, who arrived to seal the resort, was also surrounded by people and people started trying to enter inside by breaking the door of the resort. People remained adamant on the demand for demolition of the resort. Police and administration brought the situation under control after a lot of effort.

When the police reached to investigate the matter, it came to light that only the CCTV cameras of the show have been installed in the resort. There is no recording with any camera.
Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya said that Ankita’s murder in the pilgrimage town has exposed not only the law and order situation in the state but also the reality of the BJP government’s ‘Beti Bachao- Beti Padhao’ slogan. Daughters are not safe even in the quiet mountains under the BJP government and BJP leaders and their close people are responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation.
