Secretary Disaster Management Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha reached Joshimath town area on Sunday and carried out on-site inspection of landslide affected areas like Auli Ropeway, Manohar Bagh, Shankaracharya Math, JP Colony etc. During this, Geologists and other senior officials were also present with him.
Secretary Disaster Management inspected the cracks in the houses and areas near Auli Ropeway and Shankaracharya Math. Secretary Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha instructed the concerned officials to continuously monitor the pattern route of cracks and landslides in the houses. Dr. Sinha asked the concerned officials to ensure continuous monitoring of crack patterns and growth.
He informed that the geophysical study of the affected area is being done by the NGRI Hyderabad. NGRI is studying the underground water channel. After the study, geophysical and hydrological map will also be made available by NGRI. These maps will be useful for Joshimath’s drainage plan and stabilization plan.
Secretary Disaster Management Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha said that we are moving step by step towards solving the problems of Joshimath area affected by landslide. Providing immediate relief and rescue to the affected people is the biggest priority of the state government. The affected families are being shifted to safer places with urgency. The work of marking the affected buildings is going on continuously. Teams of geologists and experts are engaged in the work of investigating the causes of the landslide. The administration is in constant touch with the affected people. Their basic facilities are being taken care of in the relief camps. He informed that CBRI, IIT Roorkee, Wadia Institute, GSI, IIRS and NGRI are working in Joshimath.
