Dehradun: The auspicious inauguration of Global Tiger Day was conducted with the opening of the ” दैणा होया खोली का गणेशा” at CRVR Ramnagar.
During the inaugural session of event, the Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, participated virtually and stated that “conservation of forests and wildlife is an integral part of the culture and daily life of Devbhoomi.”
Additionally, Union Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, was present at the program.
In association with the Department of Culture, various colorful cultural programs were presented, showcasing Uttarakhand’s unique heritage.
Defense Minister Ajay Bhatt also attended the event. .
Six tiger reserves were honored during Global Tiger Day ceremony at Ramnagar CRVR. On this occasion, state-wise tiger figures were released, and three reports for the conservation and development of tigers were published.
India’s six tiger reserves were also honored with the Global CATS Accreditation Certificate. The Forest Department was recognized for its extraordinary and commendable efforts in wildlife conservation across the country, with its 11 frontline workers.
Two personnel from Simlipal Tiger Reserve were posthumously honored for their dedication.
Participating virtually in the Global Tiger Day program, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the conservation of forests and wildlife is an integral part of the culture and daily life of Devbhoomi.
He emphasized the need to live in harmony with nature. He congratulated the people of Uttarakhand, the Forest Department officials, and employees, along with local participants, for the increase in the tiger population.
He mentioned that the number of tigers has risen from 442 in 2018 to 560 by 2022.
CM Dhami also announced that the foundation stone for the Wildlife Hospital in Haldwani will be laid soon. He said that the department should voluntarily provide the extraordinary assistance in processing of assistance given by the government to affected families on cases of wildlife and human conflicts, so that the affected party does not have to run after unnecessary offices.
Union Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, emphasized that it is humanity’s duty to protect nature. When humans protect nature, nature will protect all living beings itself.
He highlighted the successful efforts made in the last five decades for tiger conservation, which have made India home to more than 75% of the world’s tiger population. He emphasized that tigers are a symbol of the sustenance of local communities and are crucial in maintaining the ecological balance and combating climate change on a global scale.
Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Ajay Bhatt, mentioned that the Project Tiger was initiated in 1973 for the conservation and development of tigers. He assured that financial support would be provided for tiger conservation and development.
The event also featured stalls set up by various tiger reserves and self-help groups from India, showcasing local products.
