On the Center for Excellence, Minister Joshi directed the officials to formulate an action plan within a week
Dehradun, Agriculture and Horticulture Minister Ganesh Joshi took stock of the progress of the guidelines given in a meeting held a week ago with officials of the horticulture department at the FRDC auditorium at the secretariat here on Monday. The meeting was attended by Secretary V.B. RC Purushottam, Additional Secretary Ranvir Singh Chauhan and departmental officers were present.
In the meeting, Minister Joshi took information from the departmental officials about the guidelines given in the previous review meeting. The officials informed that the demand for fruits and vegetables in the winter season has come to 7,47,3 Similarly, the demand for vegetable plants stood at Rs 257.61 lakh. Similarly, among fruits, the demand for apple plants has come to Rs 4,15,905 crore. Minister Joshi directed the officials to pay special attention to apples and directed the officials to increase the plantation by personally talking to the DHOs of the districts.
Minister Joshi said that quality variety of plants should be provided to the farmers. He said that today farmers are going to root stock variety instead of M-9 variety of apple, which will benefit the farmers Be that good variety of plants should be made available to the farmers. Minister Joshi directed to convert M-9 into rootstock to provide quality and good yielding plants to the farmers. Minister Joshi said that besides encouraging farmers, training programs are also going to be launched soon in which talks are being held with Jeet Chauhan of Himachal Pradesh. So that he can train farmers.
The meeting also discussed the issue of roof gardening in which the Horticulture Department will celebrate Roop Gardening Week from December 25 to January 2, 2023 to encourage roof gardening. Minister Joshi said that during the February Basant Utsav, a competition would be held with flowers as well as products grown in roof gardening. The winner would be rewarded for encouraging roof gardening.
In the meeting, Minister Joshi also directed the officials to formulate an action plan for the Center for Excellence within a week. Minister Joshi also directed the officials to make a solid action plan for the nursery. Minister Joshi said that next time farmers do not go out for plants, all plants are supplied from here to other states given.
