Governor attended the 17th convocation of Nekumaun University as chief guest

Rajbhawan nainital, pkgnews24.com,Governor Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh (Seni) on Friday attended the 17th convocation of Kumaon University held at DBS campus as the chief guest. Special guest / Higher Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat was also present in the program.
In the convocation ceremony, the Governor and the Higher Education Minister conferred degrees to a total of 58,640 students of undergraduate and postgraduate level of general and vocational courses for the academic session 2019-20 and 2020-21. While 410 students were awarded Ph.D degrees in the function,

115 students who secured highest marks in undergraduate and postgraduate classes were given medals and 5 students were given cash prizes. Along with this, Dr. Suraj Singh was given the degree of D.Lit in Sanskrit and Dr. Vinay Kandpal in Management and Dr. Chandrashekhar was given the degree of DS-C in Botany.
Addressing the convocation, the Governor congratulated all the degree holders and medal holders. He said that proper use of education is possible only when that information reaches ‘Lab to Land’ i.e. from laboratories to fields and ‘Classroom to Village’ i.e. from classrooms to village. The Governor said that today it is a matter of great pleasure that daughters have got 95 gold medals out of 120, which proves that they are not less than anyone, this shows how special abilities the daughters are. The women power of Uttarakhand has a different leadership capability. Due to his great contribution, the honor and respect of our country and abroad has increased.
He said that learning, knowledge, discipline and hard work are the factors that spread knowledge in our lives. He said that I hope that you too will move forward with this light of knowledge and conduct. The Governor appealed to the students present that they should work in any field, but must contribute in making the life of the mother power living in the village easier and better.

He said that the nature of education will have to be developed in this direction to make use of education outside the classroom, even in the villages and fields. Knowledge should not be limited to books, education should not be limited to classrooms, research and projects should not be reduced to mere papers and files, but all these works should be used to improve the livelihood and lifestyle of the people, easy and easy.
Expressing happiness over the achievements of the universities, the Governor said that along with academic services and academic achievements, the ranking of the university by various national and international institutions and many achievements, along with satisfaction and happiness, also infuses a new hope. He said that the beauty of Nainital attracts the whole world. The lakes here are nothing less than a beautiful boon of nature. As a university, along with the conservation of nature, should work to increase cleanliness and tourism activities simultaneously. In this direction, the university will have to do research, research and plan of action, so that the rich biodiversity and environment can be protected and facilities for tourists are developed. He said that it is the responsibility of every citizen of Devbhoomi to make our state clean and plastic free. The Governor said that in the coming times, India will lead as a world guru, for this the students will have to discharge their role as knowledgeable, hard-working, meritorious and character-worthy citizens.
Special guest Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat congratulated the medal and title holders. In his address, he said that this year a new education policy is being implemented in the state, in which courses in regional languages ​​including Vedas, astrology, Vedic mathematics, history of Uttarakhand, history of Jasuli Devi will be included. Higher Education Minister announced to give 10,000 new books for the university. Also assured to remove all the shortcomings related to the infrastructure. He said that every effort would be made to ensure that the students get quality education.
In the convocation, Vice Chancellor Prof. NK Joshi presented the achievements of the faculty and NCC in the field of sports as well as education by the university.
