Dehradun: Voting for the fifth elected assembly of Uttarakhand has started from 8 am. The enthusiasm of the voters is visible at the polling stations since morning. From the elderly to the jawans, there are queues at the centers to exercise their franchise. 80 lakh voters of the state will lock the fate of the candidates who have entered the election battle in the EVMs. Last time a total of 65.56 percent voting was done in the state, this time the Election Commission has a challenge to increase the vote percentage due to Kovid.
Gloves have been provided at the polling stations for using sanitizers and EVMs in view of Kovid, so that the epidemic does not spread. Tight security arrangements have been made by the commission to ensure fair and peaceful polling. PM Narendra Modi, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, Delhi CM Kejriwal and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi have appealed to the people to participate in this festival of democracy.
