In the Raj Bhavan, the celebration of Uttarakhand’s folk festival ‘Fuldei’ will mark the beginning of the spring festival.
The special postal cover will have the depiction of ‘Yamuna Tulsi’ (Kunj) (Artemisia Vulgari) to be offered in the temple of Maa Yamunotri.
Small artisans selling flower bouquets at various intersections of Dehradun will also be able to participate in the Vasant Utsav.
Arrangement of local food of Uttarakhand prepared by women self-help groups in the spring festival.
Five brand ambassadors who have done excellent work in the fields of mushroom, honey production, herbs, organic farming etc. will be honored by the governor.
Honey production, perfumes, aromatic plants, medicinal herbs will be encouraged.

Along with the display of flowers, the focus will also be on the pots.
The main theme of the cultural program ‘Phool Ki Holi’.

This year, Vasantotsav will be organized at Raj Bhavan on 8th and 9th March. A special postal cover on Yamuna Tulsi or Kunj to be offered in the temple of Mother Yamuna, which is considered sacred in the hilly regions of Uttarakhand, will be issued courtesy of the Department of Posts. In a meeting held under the chairmanship of Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Seni) on Friday, various decisions were taken regarding the organization of Vasant Utsav.
As per the instructions of Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmeet Singh (Secretary), this year, with the organization of the famous folk festival of Uttarakhand, Phuldei, the Vasant Utsav 2022 will be started at Raj Bhavan. On this occasion, formalities of Phuldei festival will be completed by the little girls in the Raj Bhavan courtyard and the Governor will be welcomed with folk songs of Uttarakhand. The Governor directed that food courts should be set up this year on the occasion of Vasant Utsav with the courtesy of IHM and GMVN as well as women self-help groups of the state. In this, preference will be given to local food of the state. Honey production, perfumery, aromatic plants, medicinal herbs will be encouraged in Vasantotsav 2022. Along with this, five brand ambassadors who have done excellent work in the fields of mushroom, honey production, herbs, organic farming etc. will be honored by the Governor. The Governor said that the production of edible flowers should also be encouraged. This year, along with the exhibition of flowers, the exhibition of various types of decorative pots will also be the main center of attraction, so that the artisans and small entrepreneurs who make pots can be encouraged. In this, competition will also be organized in three categories of 8 inch, 10 inch and 12 inch pots.
In this spring festival, a painting competition will also be organized for all school children in the age group of 5 years to 18 years. Children living in different orphanages, handicapped children and rag pickers children will also be specially invited in this painting competition. 21 prizes have been announced for the painting competition. Governor Lt. Gurmeet Singh (Secretary) will felicitate and encourage the children.
Governor Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh (Seni) said that floriculture and cultivation of aromatic plants should be promoted in Uttarakhand through Vasant Utsav. It should be expected that in future Uttarakhand will emerge as a big destination in the field of floriculture across the world. The goal of doubling the income of farmers can be achieved through floriculture. The Governor said that this event should be established as a platform for the cultivators/producers involved in commercial cultivation of flowers, herbs, aromatic plants and other organic products from far-flung areas of the state.
It was informed that the flower show will be open for the general public from 12 noon to 6 pm on March 8 and from 10 am to 6 pm on March 9. This year a total of 147 awards will be distributed in 13 categories. On 8th March itself, a glimpse of the rich cultural heritage of the state will be presented by the folk artists, courtesy the Department of Culture. Flowers ki Holi will be the theme of cultural programs. There will be an attractive presentation by ITBP, IMA band as well as other special performances. 33 departments and institutions will participate in the festival. The Governor also directed 92 central institutions to participate in this event. On March 9, the two-day program will end with the Governor awarding prizes to the winners of various competitions organized under the ‘Flower Exhibition’.
This year also flower exhibition and competition, flower based rangoli competitions of various government gardens including commercial, private flower growers will also be organized. An exhibition of photo exhibition, painting and special postage stamps based on flowers and natural beauty will also be organized. Various competitions of different categories are proposed for flower show/competition in which all competitions like cut flower, potted plant arrangement, loose flower arrangement, hanging pots along with ‘on the spot photography’ will also be organized.
In the meeting, the Governor ensured the necessary arrangements/facilities like food, drinking water, temporary toilets, first health aid, on top priority basis for the participants, visitors and organizers of the exhibition, besides paying special attention to cleanliness, security and parking arrangements. instructed to give
