Dehradun Rudprayag, ukpkg.com The date of opening of the doors of Shri Kedarnath, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, has been fixed. The doors of Kedarnath ji will open on May 6 at 6.25 am at Amrit Bela. Kedarnath ji’s doli will leave from Ukhimath for Kedarnath on 2nd May.
The doors of Shri Kedarnath situated in the Himalayas, known as the 11 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shankar, will open for the common devotees. Whereas the date of opening of the doors of Shri Badrinath Dham has already been fixed on May 8 on the religious festival of Basant Panchami. Today, on the religious festival of Mahashivratri, the date of opening of the doors of Lord Kedarnath in Omkareshwar temple at Ukhimath, the seat of Panch Kedar, was announced under traditional rituals along with Vedic worship. Before the opening of the doors, Kedar Baba’s doli will leave for Kedarnath from Omkareshwar temple at Ukhimath, the donkey site of Panch Kedar. Earlier in the morning, Rudrabhishek of the Lord was performed at the Omkareshwar temple, the seat of Panch Kedar, after performing the special worship of Lord Omkareshwar.
On this occasion, a large number of people reached the temple and performed Jalabhishek and earned the virtuous benefit of having darshan of Lord Shiva. In this ceremony to decide the date of opening of the doors, Rawal Bhimashankar Linga of Kedarnath, Omkareshwar Shukla, the religious officer of Kedarnath, the priests and the Vedapaths decided the date and time of the opening of the doors after the Panchang calculations.
