The President said that the holy land of Uttarakhand has been a land of spirituality as well as peace and knowledge. Haridwar and every gate along with Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath are the gates of attainment of Lord Vishnu and Shiva. The impure holy life-giving Ganges is also a witness to this. The President said that after independence, untouchability based on caste and religion was abolished by the Constitution, but still the feeling of untouchability towards leprosy has not been eradicated. Remnants of the ignorance of seeing leprosy as a stigma are still seen today. Efforts should be made to allay the apprehensions prevailing against leprosy patients. They should also be adopted during illness and after recovery like patients who are free from other diseases. In this regard, he also told the need for efforts to remove the apprehensions spread in the society.

Only a true patriot, patriot can do this work.
