Art and Craft workshop organized for school students of Dehradun in Virasat

Dehradun-Pahadonkigoonj, Virasat Art and Heritage Festival 2022 begins the eighth day by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Stadium (Kaulagarh Road) Dehradun along with Art and Craft Workshop. About 120 students from 7 schools of Dehradun participated in this workshop. Under this workshop, the students along with the craftsman master took training in making different types of art and art. The workshop included art like tie and dye, pottery making, jute doll making, balloon sculpting, face art, Mandana art, block printing and kite making.

Today, during the daily program of Virasat, a press conference was organized by REACH in a hotel located on Kaulagarh Road. RK Singh, General Secretary of Reach Sanstha, while addressing the media said, ‘Heritage is a platform for the emerging artists of our country and from this platform the arts of artists from Uttarakhand as well as across the country are encouraged by presenting them in front of the people. . Our aim is that the little children of the country should preserve our heritage and pass on their heritage to the coming generation. He said that in the coming few days, many well-known artists will be performing under the heritage cultural program, which includes Padma Bhushan Parveen Sultana, ghazal singer Talat Aziz and other artists. Provides a common art presentation platform to budding artists to boost their confidence. Shri Vijay Ranjan ji, Shri DN Singh, Shri Sunil Verma, Vijayshree Joshi, Kalpana Sharma and other members were present in the press conference on behalf of REACH.

The cultural evening program started with lamp lighting and Dhrupad singing by Pandit Uday Kumar Mallick. He presented Raag Rageshwari in Dhama Taal of Dhamar style, whose lyrics include “Kunj Bihari Radha Pyari and Sham Bhayalba More Mandarwa” and he ended his presentation with Thumri and Bhajan. Rupesh Pathak in Vocal with Pandit Uday Kumar Mallick, Zakir Dholpuri on Harmonium, Mithilesh Jha on Tabla, Kumari Rupam and Muskan Mahi on Tanpura gave their accompaniment.

 

Pandit Uday Kumar Mallick is the founder of Dhrupad Academy, New Delhi. He comes from the world famous Darbhanga Gharana which is known for Dhrupad and Pakhawaj for 350 years, many of his family members are honored with various prestigious awards and honours.

Pandit Uday Kumar Mallick is dedicated to the prosperity and expansion of Indian classical music and is educating a new generation of musicians. Pt. Malik performs at concerts, conventions, festivals, television and radio internationally. The audio and video recordings made by him have been kept at the Bihar Sangeet Natak Akademi Museum, U.P. Used by Sangeet Natak Akademi and Kendriya Sangeet Natak Akademi, Delhi.

Other performances of the cultural program included qawwali and sufi songs by the famous ‘Niyazi Brothers’ of Rampur Gharana. In which he started with traditional Qawwali written by Hazrat Amir Khusrau and presented Khwaja Mere Khwaja from Punjabi as well as Bollywood. The supporting cast includes Majid Niyanji and Mukarram Niyaji on vocals, Parvez and Wasif Niyaji on dholak, Vijay Kumar on tabla and Rishu Kumar on board.

Shahid Niazi and Sami Niazi (Niazi Brothers) who are globally renowned for their music continue the 250 year old family tradition of Rampur Gharana of Qawwali. Ustad Niazi has described the qawwali as “Rooh-e-Ghiza”.

Qawwali originated in the 13th century from a fusion of Indian, Persian, Turkish and Arabic musical traditions. Delhi’s Sufi saint Amir Khusro Dehlvi who was related to the Chishti Dharana of Sufis. At the heart of Qawwali lies love and devotion to God.
