135 crore sanctioned to the state for control of Ganga river water pollution under Namami Gange project in Khoh river.
Dehradun, capital on Tuesday, in respect of Khoh River in Kotdwar city, to the state of Uttarakhand under the Namami Gange Project. The project costing about Rs 135 crore for controlling Ganga river water pollution is being funded by the National Clean Ganga Mission, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. In-principle approval has been received in the 10th Executive Committee meeting. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
The approved project involves tapping 09 drains falling into the Khoh river flowing in Kotdwar city of Pauri Garhwal region of Uttarakhand district and 21 MLD. Consent has been granted for construction of sewage treatment plant (cost – approximately Rs 135 crore).
Also, Khoh river flows from Kotdwar city and joins Ramganga river, which is further a major tributary of Ganga river. The construction of the project will not only improve the ecosystem of Khoh and Ramganga river but will also stop the flow of contaminated water in the Ganga river.
Meanwhile (DGP) Ashok Kumar, Director General of Uttarakhand Police, National Clean Ganga Mission, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, in a meeting chaired by Arvind Singh Hayanki, Secretary, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ranveer Singh Chauhan, Program Director SPMG, from the state of Uttarakhand.
